I’ve always loved making cozy drinks at home, and this Red Velvet Hot Chocolate has become one of my all-time favorites. It’s creamy and has that fun pop of color that makes it feel extra special!

I love to make it for Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, though it’s perfect for any occasion, like a cozy winter night, a girls’ night in, Christmas morning, or even as a sweet breakfast drink.

It’s also a cute addition to any brunch spread if you want something a little different.

Pair it with red velvet cupcakes, shortbread cookies, or even a cinnamon roll if you’re feeling extra indulgent!

If you’re a fan of red velvet lattes, this will be right up your alley, but without the coffee.

Tips for the Best Red Velvet Hot Chocolate

  • Don’t rush the heating. Let the white chocolate melt slowly so it’s nice and smooth.
  • Add a teaspoon of cocoa powder for a little more classic chocolate flavor, but keep in mind that the white chocolate gives it its true red velvet taste.
  • If you still want a Red Velvet Latte, just add a shot of espresso or strong coffee!
  • Decorate with crushed candy canes, red velvet cake crumbs, or even heart-shaped marshmallows for a fun twist
  • You can use any kind of milk: regular, oat, almond, whatever you like!
  • Add more food coloring if you want a deeper red shade
  • You can make a grown-up version by adding a splash of Baileys, vanilla vodka, or peppermint schnapps.
  • You can make this drink ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to 2 days. Just reheat it on the stove or microwave before serving.
