Tips & Tricks for the Perfect Dump Cake

  • You can use fresh cherries instead of canned filling. Just mix them with sugar and a little cornstarch before using.
  • Try different cake mixes. Chocolate, spice, or vanilla all work well.
  • To make a DIY cake mix, use flour, sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
  • Add chopped nuts or oats to the topping to make it crunchy.
  • Reduce the sugar or use unsweetened cherries if you want the cake to be less sweet.
  • Keep leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for later.
  • To make an Apple Dump Cake, swap cherries for apple pie filling and sprinkle cinnamon on top.
